On November 18th, CNN will present a documentary on the Jonestown Massacre where 913 people lost their lives because of their blind devotion to a charismatic (destructive) cult leader. Among the dead were over two hundred children.
There have been many (destructive) cult leaders and just about all of them paid for access to politicians and celebrities to help get favorable reviews in the MSM and to get new recruits. Jim Jones, used this recruiting technique quite well alligning himself with U.S. Representatives Phillip and John Burton, Assemblyman Willie Brown and Mayor George Moscone. The Fall of 1976 seems to be the time Jones achieved his peak of power. The Burtons, Willie Brown, Williams, Moscone, radical Angela Davis, lawyer Vincent Hallinan, Lieutenant Governor Mervyn Dymally and publisher Carlton Goodlett toasted him at a testimonial dinner. And later Moscone gave him a seat on the San Francisco Housing Authority Commission.
REPORT FROM IVAW MEMBER:
On Wednesday, October 15th 2008, a peaceful protest outside the third Presidential Debate at Hofstra University on Long Island was met with violence and misconduct by police.
Iraq Veterans Against the War had a clear mission that night: to ensure that the issues most important to Veterans would be at the forefront of the debate. With over 4,183 service members having been killed in Iraq (at the time of the protest), it's unforgivable that the candidates have been allowing the Occupation of Iraq and it's casualties to fall into avoidable talking points instead of focused attention.

Actually it was yesterday that Joe Biden announced to reporters that he is "Number 2" on the ticket.
In his own words he said; "I had a success full dump!"

PS Can someone tell me how to put pictures and videos in MyDD posts? Thanks.
Just interested in launching a poll to see if Hillary's supporters are locked to her and still do as she says, as was her position in her remarks last night.
The Democratic Party is the party of change. All men and women are free and have inalienable rights. Democrats have always championed human rights, the poor, and has given a fair deal, and a new deal from FDR thru JFK to Bill Clinton.
The backbone of the Democratic Party are women and African Americans. These two groups have been mostly strong allies working together side by side for the good of the country, but have had their differences. The first major battle between these two disenfranchised groups was who would get the vote first, women or blacks. Now we are at another turning point in history, and the battleground is for which of the groups will be the first to get one of its own elected to the presidency of the United States.
Today many women rightly feel that is time for a female commander and chief and that Hillary Clinton is destined to be the 44th president of the United States.
The overwhelming majority of African Americans are proud of their champion Barack Obama and feel that he has more elected delegates and no one can deny him the nomination and the presidency.
Looking back at the conflict for voting rights for blacks and women might enlighten us so we can check our raw emotionalism and understand the driving force in our brothers and sisters. Both blacks and women have a deep yearning to be an equal and not to be held back. Both are deprived of the power of Ivy League educated white men. Blacks and women usually get along harmoniously, working for progressive causes, but when it came to voting rights and now the presidency, both groups feel they have a pre ordained right to get to the "promised land" ahead of the other.
Hillary explained today a new reason why she is continuing in the race. God told her to do it.
Faced with comments that she was only in the race waiting for something bad to happen to Obama, she explained how her relationship with God would get her through the primary season and win her the nomination.
Campaigning in Puerto Rico, she said these remarks to a full congregation at the Pabellon de la Victoria evangelical church.
"There isn't anything we cannot do together if we seek God's blessing and if we stay committed and are not deterred by the setbacks that often fall in every life," Clinton said.
